The first day of December is a reality check. We are actually in the holiday month and the countdown is on! Fortunately, I have my home decorated, most of my gifts purchased and some yet to make or finish making. Don't hate me. I have to do this as I know there will be things that pop up and need immediate attention during the next several weeks.
What we must not forget as we trim the tree and wrap the gifts is to "decorate" ourselves. It may sound funny, but making ourselves look festive should not be overlooked. Here are a few holiday fashion trends for 2011:
Sequins! Those shiny, round accents on tops are perfect to dress up jeans or that black pencil skirt. Or, go for more fun with a simple dress to get your sparkle on.
Satin! A satin dress really puts on the "shine" for the office or holiday parties. If you go full blow with a satin dress, just remember, satin is the least forgiving of fabrics and body hugging. Be prepared to show your curves. A satin blouse with a skirt or jeans is a great way to go also.
Jeweled Hair Accessories! Don't forget your hair no matter what length. Jeweled headbands, even a special broach affixed with clips will make you feel special. If you go for a major hair accessory statement, just be sure to keep your earring small so they won't fight with your hair adornments.
Velvet! Need I say more? Velvet is a such a luxurious fabric and just speaks of the holidays. Whether you go for a sexy little black dress or a blazer with jeans, you'll look like a classic.
Dramatic Jewelry! When all else fails, dig through your jewelry box and pull out your pearls and rhinestones! Layer them over a turtleneck sweater and you'll look absolutely fabulous. By the way, the magic number of strands is three.
Scarves! There are so many wonderful colors, prints, and textures that can punch up your everyday fashion. And, so many ways to wear them. Don't leave home without one!
